Friends of Emmanuel

Concordia Community

Emmanuel calls the Concordia Lutheran College Chapel home. The College’s boarders worship at Emmanuel regularly, and are encouraged to join the regular Youth activities. Being located on the campus of the College gives Emmanuel a distinct outreach opportunity. As a strong Christian presence, we constantly seek to build and strengthen our relationship with the Concordia community and seek to build the kingdom of God – together.

USQ Chaplaincy

The Lutheran Chaplain at the University of Southern Queensland, Evan Reichelt, is also employed by USQ as the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Coordinator. The University houses many diverse cultures and religions, and the Lutheran presence is invaluable in this important and large mission field. Evan says:

“Being a Lutheran Chaplain in a Multi-Faith University is simply about pastoral care, that is to care for the emotional and spiritual needs of the students with whom I come in contact. This is paramount to what I am doing at USQ. It does not depend on what religion or faith they are, what colour they are or what part of the world they may come from. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to help and be a friend to all students.”

The Mustard Seed

Emmanuel's Mission Program, The Mustard Seed, incorporates all mission initiatives within our congregation. A big project is the support of the Chaplain in our local State School, Harristown. This initiative involves prayer support, a breakfast program, collection for Christmas Hampers, and appeals for other needs that may arise within the school. Other initiatives include the collection of items or funds for various causes such as New Hope, Watoto and the Salvation Army. New ideas on how to bring the love of Jesus out into our community are always welcome! For photos, news & latest projects, check out our Facebook page The Mustard Seed.

Asia Focus (Liberian Refugees)

Asia Focus is a Lutheran Organisation that focuses on mission to countries in Asia and Africa. Emmanuel has been involved in supporting Asia Focus, especially through prayer and financial support. In particular Emmanuel has been touched by the plight of Liberian refugees who were forced to flee to Guinea. We regularly receive updates from the refugees who have now decided to return home and slowly rebuild their lives.
